The Season of Lent, Good Friday, Easter

The season of Lent, Good Friday, Easter is not three seasons but one. It is the most holy season on the Christian calendar. It is equivalent to Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) on the Jewish calendar.

For Christians, it is a time of reflection, self-sacrifice, and repentance. Fasting and prayer is one activity that is frequently done during this time. It recalls Jesus forty-days of fasting in the desert, a time when He overcame Satan. I see fasting and praying as one activity, because without praying fasting has no spiritual value. You fast in order to pray.

What do you read during this time? I recommend reading the story of Jesus’ passion from Palm Sunday to resurrection on Eastern morning. All four gospels have a record of it. Since each gospel has slightly different details, you may want to read all four account to get the full flavor. The gospels do not contradict each other. Each provides the story according to the audience to whom he was writing.

I have begun a series of books entitled, “Witnesses to an Execution.” One or more will be released during this time of Lent and Easter each year, if the Lord wills it. The first volume is now available on Amazon in three formats: paperback, eBook, and audio book. I want everybody to listen to the audio book; it will certainly bless you.

There is a second book I would like to recommend; it is the second edition paperback of: INVOCATION: The Psychology of Blessing Your Home and Family. The eBook and audio here.
