RUMORS OF WAR

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, February 14th this year (2024). Just before His passion, Jesus predicted the destruction of the Temple (Matthew 24:1-2). This was shocking to His disciples because the Temple was the center of Jewish life; its destruction would have far-reaching consequences upon Israel and Jews of the diaspora. This scenario was just unimaginable for the disciples. But they new Yeshua (Jesus) never engage in empty talk.; the prediction was sure to happen.
Later, as Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples in a private meeting asked Jesus when will the destruction of the Temple takes place, and what will be the sign of His return and of the end of the age (verse 3). Jesus gave them a litany of events that will happen as we countdown to the end of time. The major events are captured and discussed in the ten-volume series, Related Events to the Second Coming of the Christ.
One of the things that would characterize the countdown to the end is wars. He said, “You will hear of wars and rumors of war but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come, Nations will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains” (vv.6-8 NIV).
Sorry to say this but it is the truth, most Americans are dead asleep to what is going on in the world. and what is about to happen. We feel so secure that we think what befalls other nations cannot happen here. So, every time a major crisis happened we said, it was a wake-up call. February 26th, 1993, at 12:18 PM EST, the World Trade Center here in New York had its first bombing by terrorists. The blast occurred in the basement and failed to bring down any of the Towers. America said, it was a wakeup call.
September 11th, 2001, at 8:11 A.M. the Twin Towers were hit from above by terrorists flying jet aircrafts into them. America was so much asleep that we could not even scramble F-16s in time, which fly several times faster than the speed of sound, to shoot down those aircrafts. Again, America said it was a wakeup call. My question is, why do we keep going back to bed?
Again, the Capital Insurrection is another wakeup call. How do I know we are back to sleep? The two parties cannot agree that we came close and are on our way to losing our democracy unless we act with unity and urgency to turn the tide. We keep rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic because we think she is too powerful to sink; that belief was fiction then and it is fiction now. What holds us together is the United that comes before States of America. We think bombing and throwing billions of dollars at other countries will keep us safe. They will take our money and laugh at us as we sink if we fail to be one nation under God.
Rumors of War
War will continue to the end, and America will continue to drain its national treasury supplying billions in dollars and war equipment to fight wars and rebuild cities destroyed by war. The war machines are building up in the Middle East, but the average Americans are busy working and sending little Jonny and Susie to school, we have no time to think about what is happening.
Yeshua (Jesus) said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark, and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away” (vv.37-39).
Note the contrast with the days of Noah and now. Disaster overtook that generation because they were spiritually asleep, preoccupied about the mondain things of life, and lacked knowledge about what was about to befall them. Jesus warns that our generations will succumb to the same fate if we refuse to pay attention to things beyond the material. Pleasuring seeking, buy, and selling, and consuming are our preoccupation.
Wake up, spiritually speaking, and position yourself for what is coming so that you know what to do before the storms hit. The drum beat of war that you are hearing is the countdown to Armageddon.
