America and the War in Gaza
Those not running for office are too weak to take a strong position against the war in Gaza and those running are too diplomatic to say, no more! But Bernie Sanders, Senator from Vermont Twitted the following on Wednesday, September 18th 2024:
“Much of the carnage in Gaza has been carried out with US-provided military equipment. That’s why I will introduce a resolution to block this $20 billion arms sale to Israel. We must end our complicity in the immoral & illegal war against Palestinians.”
How can you be against a war and at the same time providing offensive weapons to keep it going? That is absurd! And don’t even say, What about Ukraine? Ukraine is a totally different situation.
Most of us believe that Israel must be able to defend itself within secured borders. But the unjust way the leaders have prosecuted this war is making Israel more isolated in the world, multiplying mew enemies, and fanning the flames of antisemitism. It is time to end this war and work for a two State solution.
The present Israeli leadership don’t want a two-state solution, we know that. But the Palestinians must have a right to self-determination. The present Israeli leadership should not be allowed to drag America in a regional, if not a global war. The Ukraine situation is different and necessary to contain Russia from its expansionism campaign.
The Gaza war is overkill. It is an attempt do destroy a people. Of all the peoples upon the earth, Israel should have understood, because Jews have faced extermination before, but they are still here. They have been given a higher law to abide by and have not kept it, but continue to behave like other nations. From the time of the prophet Samuel, they want to be like other nations but they were not given a higher law to behave like other nations.
“The eye for an eye” philosophy of the Torah was ratified two thousand years ago by a Rabbi from Nazareth named, Yeshua. He said, “Love your neighbor as yourself” and “love your enemies” (Matthew 5: 39-42). To love you enemies is a great challenge when your enemies want to kill you. But that is the challenge of living up to a higher law.
The rabbi who said it was framed, falsely accused and crucified outside of Jerusalem on a hill called, Calvary. He prayed this prayer for his enemies, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Yes, a nation should defend itself but not in ways that make others charge you for being worse than the terrorist that attack you. If fight you must, fight wisely and win both the battle and the war. To win one and lose the other is not progress. You are just maintaining the status quo.
I understand too well the future of Israel; it is unfolding before our eyes but not many understand it. It is prophetic, political, and theological. My new book, ARMAGADDON: Messiah and the Rescue of Israel spells it our for you. Be sure to get a copy, if not the whole 10-volume series.
