Introduction

This article is an invitation to educate and discipline your mind. It is one of the most important articles I have ever written. The information given is transformational, if followed. If you want your life to be on a new and rewarding trajectory for 2026, educate and discipline your mind. Your goals will include a series of simple activities that I will show you. But you must be ready by the very beginning of the coming year. Your best approach is to make this goal your New Year’s resolution now, because 2026 will be here very soon.

What is the Mind?

The mind is not the brain. The brain is a biological organ composed of tissues; it can be seen, a brain surgeon can operate on it. The mind is not an organ of the body, but each person has one. The mind is invisible and works in connection with the brain. The mind is the spiritual center of each person, and it can be evil or good, depending on the  training received.

The mind is able to navigate the spiritual domain of good and the spiritual world of evil. There are two  examples of this at work. (1) In Matthew 16:13-19. Here, the apostle Peter is complimented by Jesus for receiving a revelation from God that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. This revelation was transmitted to Peter’s mind from another place (heaven), a spiritual domain. So far, good! But shortly after, Jesus had to rebuke the same Peter because Satan was transmitting a message to Peter’s mind and mouth to Jesus (Verses 21-23).

Note, if Satan had a message for Jesus, why not transmit it directly to the mind of Jesus, why use Peter’s mind and mouth? The answer is simple. The mind of Jesus was spiritually advanced, trained, and well disciplined. Whereas, Peter was a sinful man still in training. Satan was also showing that he could use the same channel and vessel God used. So, don’t be surprised when good people do evil things.

 (2) Judas is the second example. Judas was in training for over three years, up to the last week of Jesus’ life. Judas had his feet washed by Jesus, but his heart and mind were still dirty (John 13:1-11).  That same night, Judas broke bread with Jesus and the other disciples, then excused himself from the communion table to betray his Lord for thirty pieces of silver (Mark 14: 18-21). (Get this book, “Judas Iscariot: The Autopsy of a Betrayer” here). Satan messed with Judas’ heart and mind, even at the most sacred hour.

Who are You?

I think it was Socrates who made popular the maxim, “Man know thyself.” And Shakespeare who said, “If to thine own self be true, …you can never be false to any man..” The fact is you are more than bones and tissues. You are a biological/spiritual being. The body is made of dirt. If you are not convinced of that, don’t take a bath or shower for six weeks. The mind is the spiritual center a person; It is sometimes referred to in scripture as the soul, the heart, the  spirit, or the mind. “For as man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 ).

The good book gives us the dichotomy of body and spirit (mind).  God formed man from “the dust of the earth” (that is the physical, the biological), and He breathed into his nostrils “the breath of life” and “man became a living being,” that is the spiritual (Genesis 1:26-27). But that’s not all. The narrative says, God created male and female in “His own likeness and image.” He placed a spiritual center in us that can relate to Him as no animal of the brute/beast creation can.

The image of God upon you gives you transcendent value above the brute creation. This spiritual center is referred to by different names: soul, spirit, heart, or mind. In this article we call it the mind. You have a brain, and you have a mind, one physical, the other spiritual. One visible, the other invisible. One connects you to the physical world, the other to the spiritual world. But remember the spiritual world has two domains: good and evil, God and Satan. There are two spiritual kingdoms; the kingdom of darkness, and the kingdom of light. Humans can connect to both.

The Mind, the Control Center

The mind is the spiritual control center of your life. Actions, good or evil are first decided in the mind; actions have a thought life before they become action. “As a man thinks in his heart so is he” (Prov.23:7). Theft, lying, adultery, murder are a few examples of actions that find their roots in our thought life. They are conceived within the mind. The training data that you program your mind with will always determine the trajectory of your life for good or evil.

There are two kinds of formation that the mind can choose from: one is carnal, and the other spiritual. The carnal mind is the spiritual center that puts a person’s life on a part that leads to eternal death. The spiritual mind center leads the person to life and truth (Roman 8: 5-8). If you train your mind well, it will take care of your body. If you neglect your mind, you will always end up at a sorry destination.

Training of the Mind

So, Know this–the mind can be carnal or spiritual; it cannot be both at once. The mind that is not trained to be spiritual is carnal or fleshy. The carnal mind cannot please God; it will not obey or submit to God’s will. The carnal mind leads to death (Romans 8:5-8).

The spiritual mind is the mind trained in the things of God and is led by the Spirit of God (i.e., the Holy Spirit). The spiritual mind leads to eternal life and peace (Verses 8-11).  To develop a spiritual mind takes time and discipline. The following practice steps will help you to achieve that goal. But remember the goal is always moving forward.

First, exercise the mind to think on spiritual things. Spiritual things are things that draw you to God, things like the Word of God that we embrace, things that make you a better person, things that edify or build up other people for good. The apostle Paul says, “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is anything virtuous or praiseworthy, meditate on these things” (Philip.4:8 NKJV). (Slight paraphrased).

When Joshua assumed the leadership of the people of God after the death of Moses, God directed him not to turn to the left or right from obeying the words of the Law (the Word of God), but to meditate upon it day and night that he might make his way prosperous and he would have good success (Joshua 1:8-11).

When you meditate on the Word of God, you educate the mind by feeding it with pure content. The mind is like a computer, if you input trash, the output will be trash. There is a glut of trashy information available today, but it has no redeeming moral value. If it is consumed, it becomes corrosive to the soul or mind overtime. Read content of value; spiritual reading carry the greatest value for this life and the life to come.

Second, the mind must be frequently renewed, spiritually, to know or discern the will of God ((Romans 12:1-2).This spiritual renewal comes by consecrating our whole self to the Lord daily. It is having a quiet time of reading the Word of God, meditating upon it, and praying. Also added time to study the word of God and read books that are spiritual from trusted authors who write on spiritual themes. Do not forget audio books and preaching content. This is how you feed mind until it is transformed; transformation is a process.

The word “consecrate” also means to dedicate; it is the handing over of the whole self to God: body, soul, spirit, and mind. The body is the temple of God and should never be used for unholy activities. If the mind is going to be spiritual, the body cannot be used as a dumping ground for the immoral things of this world. We must control what we allow to enter the body and mind through the various pathways, such as hearing, seeing, thinking, and speaking. Speaking is strange, because it is what we say that defiles us (Matthew 15:16-20).

Third, aspire to have the mind of Jesus Christ. What kind of mind did Christ have? A pure, humble mind. This is what the apostle asserts, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Although He was equal with God, He did not cling to that or use it as an advantage. Instead, He laid aside His glory, and for our sakes He became poor and humbled Himself unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God raised Him from the dead, and highly exalted Him to the highest place. And has given Him a name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:8-11).

In other words, true greatness is not seen in self-exaltation. Jesus is the model of true greatness because He first practice humility by becoming incarnate, then God exalted Him to the highest place with a name heaven and earth adores. The wise man Solomon says, Those who exalt themselves will be brought low. So, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, a mind of humility.

I write to provide spiritual food for the mind or the soul, food to build you up, to edify you in the things heaven wants you to know, as we count down to the end of the age. A glut of information is available today, but much of it is worthless, having no eternal value.

I recommend that you start with this basic series, “Related Event to the Second Coming of the Christ.” This series is ten (10) short volumes. Buy all ten at once or one at a time. The volumes are sequential; they build upon each other. Begin with volume 1, “The Rapture.” Don’t just skim it, take time to read and understand the content. Even send me questions and I will answer them. Buy them Here.
