Shorter Attention Span

Did you notice that the attention span of people has gotten much shorter? or it’s just me. Everybody is an expert now a days; we behave as if we know everything there is to know on every subject. And we end up shouting so loud, but nobody is really listening to the other. I hope I can make a listener out of you because I really have something important you should hear.

 A teacher I know very well always say, “He that has ears to hear let him hear.” What does that really mean? There are some people with ears, but they cannot hear or they refuse to hear. It also means, the responsibility of hearing is not with the speaker but with the hearer. Hearing has a great deal to do with the spiritual life. But how do you tune out the noise on focus on what is really important?

 Don’t think me to be presumptuous, if I told you there are three things that I know that most people don’t know but I would like them to know. Three things: 1) How to secure a place for yourself in heaven, 2) how to get a great reward when you get there, and 3) the major things that will happen from now to over a thousand years from now.

Your first reaction is, what is he smoking? and you are tempted to tune me out, stop listening. Frankly, I don’t smoke. And I am playing with a full deck. The three preceding categories that I said I know things in are not exclusive to me. A lot of people have the information but most people don’t take it seriously; it sounds fictitious, so they turn to something else with no eternal value. What has eternal values in your life right now? You job, you investments, your family? We will leave all that here.
